The Supreme Court has affirmed Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party as the rightful winner of the 2019 Sokoto State governorship election.
The apex court in affirming Tambuwal as the duly elected governor of Sokoto dismissed an appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Aliyu Sokoto against the result of the election.
Sokoto had challenged the Tambuwal’s victory at both the election petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal and lost.
The seven-man panel of Justices which heard the appeal was led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.
