House of Representatives aspirant for Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly, Dr. Marcelli Oguh, has urged Nigerian youths to reject the temptations of being used as political thugs during the 2019 general elections.
He also advised that instead of putting their fate in the hands of old money bags, the youth should support younger candidates like him who have their interests and welfare at heart.
Oguh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who spoke to newsmen on Thursday, warned that there was no gain in allowing those who did not wish the youth well to assume power come 2019.
He described old politicians as selfish opportunists who had been taking pleasure in stunting the growth of the youth.
He urged the youth to go for the younger generations of politicians if they hoped to remain relevant, insisting that the time had come to correct the mistakes of the past.
Oguh maintained that while the money bags had been sharing money to acquire power, they had been using the method to perpetually subject the youths to thuggery and intellectual slavery, even as they mortgaged the conscience of the people.
He lamented that in several places, the Nigerian youths no longer have independent minds to determine their future, stressing that the time had come to bring money politics to an end so that people with the mind of service would be enthroned.

He maintained that it was due to the hunger to serve his people selflessly that he decided to run for elective position as his constituency had remained backward, with the youths unemployed.
Oguh stressed that the new approach or shift from thuggery and ballot snatching to vote buying had become a serious threat to the nation’s democracy and electoral process.
He added that all hands must be on deck to put an end to the menace.
He opined that it was only the youths who could correct such political anomaly to enhance the electoral process to bring about greater democratic dividends.
