The House of Representatives has asked the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Power, to suspend the planned upward review of electricity tariff.
The Chairman of the House committee on Power, Aliyu Magaji, gave the directive during a meeting with the Minister of Power and the NERC in Abuja on Tuesday.

The meeting deliberated on the rationale behind the increase when the house had already passed a bill criminalizing estimated billing.
Recall that new tariff had been scheduled take effect from the April 1, 2020.
The House committee has also condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to transfer the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company Limited from the Ministry of Power to the Ministry of Finance.
