A group of men alleged to be labourers working near Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, Abuja, on Sunday staged a counter-protest against members of the #ChurchToo Movement who demonstrated over rape allegation levelled against the founder of the church, Abiodun Fatoyinbo.
The men were said to have been paid N10, 000 each by an unnamed member of the church for the protest.
Meanwhile, members of #ChurchToo were blocked by a human barricade of COZA members who linked arms some distance to the church auditorium in Guzape, Abuja.
There were also men of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services available to ensure things did not get out of hand during the protest.
The pro-Fatoyinbo group carried handwritten placards that read ‘We love Pastor Fatoyinbo’ and ‘Biodun is a great man,’ among others.
Reports said that some of the hired hands later accepted N500 each from a #ChurchToo protester to surrender their placards.
Meanwhile, the #ChurchToo protesters stormed the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) in Abuja over the rape allegation against the founder of the church, Biodun Fatoyinbo.
Recall that wife of musician, Timi Dakolo, Busola, had in video interview released on Friday accused the pastor of raping her when she was 16 years.
They carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘Thou shall not rape’, and ‘Your pastor is not your God’, calling on the pastor to step down, and be investigated, among other things.
