Katsina state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Salisu Maijigiri, on Tuesday told the Presidential Election Tribunal that his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, won the election in President Muhammadu Buhari home state, Katsina.
Maijigari, who said he served as the party’s collation agent in the state for the presidential election, claimed that Atiku scored 905,000 votes while Buhari polled 872,000 votes.
His figures are contrary to those announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which had said APC polled a total of 1,232,133 while PDP got 308,056 total votes.
At Tuesday’s hearing of the petition by Atiku and the PDP challenging Buhari’s victory in February 23 election, Maijigari, who was the petitioner’s eight witness, said: “We, (the PDP) are the ones who won the election, not the APC.
“These are our own results we collated in our state not the ones from the server.”
