Katsina State Government has began the disbursal of N30 million to 3,000 women in the state as part of efforts to promote local businesses.
According to the state’s commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development,Dr Badiyya Mashi, “the disbursement was part of efforts to ameliorate poverty among women across the three senatorial zones of Katsina state, reduce unemployment and idleness.”
Mashi, while giving out the money said it would assist the women expand their businesses and part of the overall growth of the nation’s economy.
She said, “Each woman would receive N10, 000 as start-up capital to enhance her business.

“Our ideal is to empower them economically to enable them kick start their petty businesses or build on what they have started.”
The Commissioner disclosed that the government had other programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people and would be glad to see the beneficiaries transform into change agents for the economic growth of the state.
According to her, economic growth can be achieved if all women were empowered to support their families and the education of their children.
She called on the recipients to drum up support for President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Aminu Masari during the 2019 general elections, to solidify the enormous works they are doing.
