The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, dismissed the Police Service Commission, PSC’s suit, challenging the authority of the Inspector-General, I-G, Muhammad Adamu, to recruit 10, 000 police officers.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, who delivered the judgement, described the PSC’s suit as lacking in merit.
Recall that the PSC and the IG have been at loggerheads over whose responsibility it was to recruit constables following President Muhammadu Buhari‘s approval of such recruitment.

The IG having gone ahead to interview and recruit constables was dragged to court by the PSC alongside the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.
Also named as defendant in the suit was the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
In the motion on notice filed on Sept. 24, the commission prayed the court for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants from ”appointing, recruiting or attempting to appoint or recruit by any means whatsoever any person into any office by the NPF pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.”
