According to him, a group of bandits numbering about 200 and armed with dangerous weapons had stormed the two villages on motorcycles shooting sporadically.

He said on receiving the information, the DPO immediately led operatives of Operation Puff Adder to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle that lasted over an hour before succeeding in dislodging the hoodlums and chasing them out of the village.

Isah also said they recovered 200 cows, 300 goats and three motorcycles from the bandits.

He said officers of the Operation Puff Adder are combing the fringes of Rugu forest to fish out the fleeing hoodlums.
