The Police in Katsina State said they have foiled an attack by hoodlums at Sabon_Garin Baure and Baure villages in Safana Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Gambo Isah, on Friday made this known.
According to him, a group of bandits numbering about 200 and armed with dangerous weapons had stormed the two villages on motorcycles shooting sporadically.
He said on receiving the information, the DPO immediately led operatives of Operation Puff Adder to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle that lasted over an hour before succeeding in dislodging the hoodlums and chasing them out of the village.
Isah also said they recovered 200 cows, 300 goats and three motorcycles from the bandits.
He said officers of the Operation Puff Adder are combing the fringes of Rugu forest to fish out the fleeing hoodlums.
The command enjoined members of the public to continue to partner with security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
Isah said investigation is ongoing.
