The Committee on the Recovery of Imo Government Property on Wednesday alleged that about N50 billion worth of property belonging to the state are still in the hands of the immediate past governor, Rochas Okorocha and his aides.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr. Jasper Ndubuaku, made the disclosure in Owerri, the state capital, while briefing the press on the recoveries so far made by the committee.

According to him, 66 utility vehicles are missing from the Government House with six of them allegedly traced to the wife of the former Governor, Nkechi, while three vehicles out of five allegedly taken away by Okorocha’s Aide-De-Camp had been recovered.

Ndubuaku, also revealed that all the furniture in the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, which was headed by Okorocha’s younger sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo, as Commissioner, are also missing.

The committee Chairman, who said they have appealed to the former governor’s aides and other government officials to return all the government property in their custody, added that the committee might be forced to adopt other measures to recover the missing property, if its diplomatic approach fails.

He noted that the whistle blowing policy adopted by the committee has contributed immensely to the successes so far recorded.

Recall that the committee was inaugurated by Gov. Emeka Ihedioha shortly after assuming office with the mandate to recover all government movable property from former officers in the last administration.
