NSCDC Benue Command Graduates 54 Personnel On Anti Terrorism

Benue State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has expressed its commitment to its responsibilities, professionalism and the continuous training and retraining of officers and men of the command.

The outgoing Corps commandant, newly promoted to the rank of Assistant Commandant General, Kamilu Ado Isah, made this known at the command Headquarters in Makurdi when 54 of its personnel graduated from the special training course on Counter – Terrorism, Course 02/2020.

The outgoing commandant said the training programme has been well laid out for officers and men of the command to build their capacity in line with modern security challenges confronting the World and Benue state in general.

Assistant Commandant General, K.A Isah said 200 personnel were earmarked for the training but because of Covid-19 pandemic, only 54 were allowed to proceed for the six weeks Counter Terrorism Training Course.

He explained that the 54 personnel who have been trained are graduating with a passing out parade, drills and other simulation exercises to demonstrate their skills and readiness in the event of any security situations.

He thanked Benue State Government for its support to the command and solicited for more assistance to enable others embark on similar training to protect the people of Benue better.

He also commended the NSCDC Commandant – General, Abdullahi Gana for providing 19 motorcycles for the personnel saying they will boost crime fighting activities in the state.

Speaking, Governor Samuel Ortom who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Col Paul Hemba (rtd), congratulated the outgoing commandant and also commended the officers for making themselves available and successfully completing the course.

Ortom who noted that the tenure of the outgoing commandant has impacted more on the command in terms of training, especially, the Agro Rangers, pledged to continue to support the command with logistics and welfare of officers.

Meanwhile, the outgoing ACG said that with these sets of trained personnel more units will be opened in places like Katsina Ala, Buruku and other local government areas of the state.

At the event, 10 special motorbikes for Agro Rangers were commissioned and certificates presented to the graduands.
