More than 5,000 persons are now confirmed to have been infected with the new coronavirus disease in Nigeria.
The total number of infected persons hit 5,162 on Thursday as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 193 new infections.
The infections were recorded across 14 states and the FCT with Lagos having the highest number – 58, followed by Kano and Jigawa with 46 and 35 new infections respectively.
The number of deaths and recoveries also increased .
With three new deaths, the total number of fatalities from the disease rose to 167 while 110 new recoveries shot the number of successfully managed cases in the country to 1,180.
Details of the new figures released by the NCDC are as follows:
“193 new cases of #COVID19;
58-Lagos , 46-Kano, 35-Jigawa, 12-Yobe, 9-FCT 7-Ogun, 5-Plateau, 5-Gombe, 4-Imo, 3-Edo, 3-Kwara, 3-Borno, 1-Bauchi, 1-Nasarawa and 1-Ondo.

Meanwhile the centre noted that two cases reported on Wednesday from Kaduna were repeat case.
“Two cases reported yesterday from Kaduna, were repeat tests. Therefore, Kaduna has a total of 114 confirmed cases.
