A new Commissioner of Police for Benue State, CP Akingbola Olatunji has resumed duty at the State Police Command.

A press statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP. Catherine Anene and made available to The Next Edition, said that the new CP resumed duty on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

A one-time DCP Operations, Benue State Command, CP Olatunji takes over from Audu Madaki who was promoted recently to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of police and posted to Zone 12 Bauchi.

Until his posting to Benue state command, CP Olatunji was the Quarter Master General of the Force.

He is a Fellow, Institute of Security Studies, Member Nigerian Institute of Management and Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Practitioners.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science,  Masters degree in Political science and another Masters degree in Peace and Security Studies.

According to the statement, the CP was appointed a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of police on 15th March, 1988.

He has held several strategic positions that cut across all the departments in the Force being the Divisional Police Officer in many Divisions within Lagos Command.

He was Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP),  Field studies, Staff College, Jos, ACP.  FederalSars Force CIID,  Abuja, ACP.  FederalSars Force CIID Annex,  Lagos, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP),  Administration, Force CIID, Abuja, DCP Administration,  Ogun State Police Command, DCP International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) Force CIID Annex, Lagos. as well as Commandant Detective College, Enugu.

The statement said the new Commissioner is not only diligent in carrying out his duties but holds in high esteem professional global standards of policing in accordance with the laws.
