It is evident that the rivalry between Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola has been renewed this season as both men seem to be rolling back the years with the level of performances of their respective clubs.

Last season was billed to be between Jose Mourinho of Manchester United FC and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City FC due to the pedigree and rivalry of both coaches from the Spanish league. It didn’t turn out that way as Antonio Conte stole the show with his Chelsea side.

Many would recall that both men were coaches of Spanish giants, Real Madrid FC and FC Barcelona respectively. Mourinho lost the league title to Guardiola but won it in his second season in charge of Real Madrid. They were not able to replicate their successes in the last season in the English premier League.

However, this season is looking different with the two Manchester clubs flying high. Last weekend, the English Premier League was all about Manchester United and Manchester City as they are both on the same points with same number of goals scored and same number of goals conceded.
Man United and City are on 13 points each. They have both scored 16 goals and conceded just two goals. Goal difference for both clubs is 14.

While United was without their star man, Paul Pogba due to injury, the blue half of Manchester had their full squad when they took on Watford away from Etihad stadium. City defeated Watford 6 – 0, making it 15 goals in three matches for the club. Sergio Aguero also had his second hat trick of the season against Watford.

United, on the other hand, defeated a stubborn Everton at Old Trafford four goals to nil. Antonio Valencia made it 1-0 in favour of Man United just three minutes into the game. What followed was a cagey affair between the two clubs, until the 83rd minute when Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled the lead for United. Romelu Lukaku, the former Everton man made it 3-0 in the 89th minute, while Anthony Martial converted his penalty to put the icing on the cake in injury time, making it 4-0.

As the old rivalry between the two coaches is renewed this season due to the level of competition between both clubs, fans will have to wait for the business end of the season to know who will have the bragging rights. For now, there is nothing to separate them.
