Money and power are two words that make the world go round. Raw power? Perish the idea! People in powerful positions control the world, countries, states, localities, communities, institutions and companies. Money, real money, they say, is the root of all evils – and we add, all good things. It needs no introduction. Money opens doors. Ditto for power. Money or power, which is better? In other words, if you were asked to choose, which of these would it be?

The Next Edition has put together reactions of some Nigerians.

Kane: “Money begets power and respect, while Power helps in gathering the money but if given the opportunity to choose, I’ll choose power because if you have power, money automatically follows.”

Saheed Adekunle: “I would choose money because i could use money to buy power, but I cannot use power to buy money. It’s simple arithmetic and a case study is our country’s politics. Our politicians use money to get people to vote them into power. Since politics of today is won by the highest bidder I would go for money so that I could use it to buy power.”

Solomon chukas: “Money for God’s sake……. If with money I could get the power I desire, command respect and even get love what else is left. Infact, i mean pure respect and love not forceful ones.”

Anani Okoh: “Let me use Nigeria as an example, our former president was a lecturer before switching into politics, but his simplicity and humble background landed him in the corridor of power. Today, he is an important figure in Nigeria and in the world. He is also rich and well to do. I would conclude with this words; All powerful people are rich in their own ranks, but not all moneybags are powerful. I would choose power.”

Zephyr Splendor: “I would choose power over money because with power i could get or control anything and anyone including money. I am not saying that i could not go for money but with power you could do positive things or negative things.”

Aniekan Inyang: “Power comes with money. The reason for saying that is that in this country of ours today nothing goes for nothing. You give and take, so i would choose money over power because cash ………..breeds power and that is my take on this issue.”

Lovina Jack & Faith Ini-Edoh: “I would choose money over power because with money, i could buy power and any other thing i may desire and i could also control power.”

Kudus Agboola: “I choose power over money because as we all know that money is not everything. You might be rich and yet lack some things like happiness, joy and peace, these are things one can’t buy with money they come naturally but with power these would be earned.”

Iyke xtian: “Power varies, we have different kinds of powers such as spiritual, political, economical, and diabolical powers, but one power supersedes all others including money. If it is for worldly gains I would choose power over money, if not I would rather choose money over power because all other things including power are all slaves to money and with money i can buy them all put together it is just a matter of time.”
