Money laundering: Yero, others appear in court Thursday

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr. Ramalan Yero, will be arraigned on Thursday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He is being probed over alleged cases of money laundering, criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds among others.

To be arraigned with him are former Kaduna Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Mr. Haruna Gaiya; former Minister of State for Power, Mr. Nuhu Way, and former Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Mr. Hamza Ishaq.

Yero and the other suspects were detained by the EFCC on Wednesday, but the spokesman of the Kaduna zonal office of the EFCC, Mr. Kamaludeen Gebi, said that they would be arraigned at a Federal High Court in Kaduna.

The suspects have been under probe since 2016 over the disbursement of N750 million spent on PDP campaign before the 2015 general election.

They will be asked to explain the different roles they played in the disbursement of the fund.
