A 36-year-old man, Owuye Oluwafemi, was on Tuesday brought before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl (name withheld).

Oluwafemi, whose address was not stated, was arraigned on a three-count charge of indecent assault, sexual assault and breach of peace.

The Police Prosecutor, Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 31 at about 3:30 p.m. at Ola-Oki Str., Ibereko, Badagry.

According to the prosecutor, Olufemi did penetrate sexually with his right finger the vagina of the 5-year-old, without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

READ ALSO:

“He sexually touched the 5-year-old girl, in violation of Section 168 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

“Oluwafemi also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by instigating members of the public against her parent, thereby committed an offence under the Section 166 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaya remanded the accused in prison and adjourned the case until September 10, for further hearing. (NAN)
