The Lagos State Government on Wednesday dropped the charges against the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party in the last elections in the state, Babatunde Gbadamosi, his wife and popular musician, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley.

Gbadamosi, his wife and Naira Marley were arraigned before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba for attending a birthday party organised by Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello for her husband which had more than 20 guests in attendance, thereby violating the government’s social distancing order to check the spread of coronavirus.

However, the government, according to one of the defence lawyers, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), withdrew the four count charges filed against the three defendants.

Adegboruwa who briefed journalists at the end of proceedings because journalists were not allowed into the court room, said the state withdrew the charges on the condition that the defendants would tender an apology to the President, Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
