Lawmaker Empowers 15,000 Youths, Constructs 58 Classrooms In Kano

A member of the House of Representatives, Nasir Ali, said that over 15,000 youths have benefitted from an empowerment scheme initiated under the constituency projects in Nasarawa Federal Constituency.

Ali (APC-Nasarawa) who stated this in a interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday in Kano, said so over 58 classrooms were constructed in the past two years.

He said that the projects were designed to improve the social and economic wellbeing of the constituents in the area.

“The skills acquisition programme is to train youths and women on various trades to enable them set up their businesses and become self reliant.

“The beneficiaries were also provided with N10,000 each, to enable them set up their businesses,” adding that the some 1,000 youths were also trained on GSM phone repair in partnership with the Nigerian Contact Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).”

The lawmaker said that he had donated 400 motorcycles and 15 vehicles to some students and traders in his constituency to ease movement of persons, goods and services.

On education, Ali said he had established a Vocational Education Centre while 58 classroom blocks were constructed in the 11 wards of the area.

Ali added that some 65 motorised boreholes, 20 solar boreholes and hand pumps were procured and installed to end scarcity and enhance access to portable water in the area
While 110 Qur’anic (Tsangaya schools) and 500 streets were provided with solar lights in the area.

“I sponsored 1,500 students to write the National Examination Council (NECO), while 300 other indigent students of higher institutions of learning were supported with money to pay their registration fees.

“Classrooms furniture are provided to 30 selected schools to create a conducive learning environment in the schools.

“I also spent over N18 million to support many sick people that needed assistance in the constituency.” Ali said.
