An 18-year-old labourer, Badamasi Garba, was on Monday arraigned before a Sokoto Magistrates’ Court for allegedly having carnal knowledge of young boy.

The Police prosecutor, Abubakar Tambuwal told the court that Garba, who resides along Dallatu road, Tudun Wada area of Sokoto, committed the offence on Aug. 5.

 

According to him, the accused intentionally took one Abdulrahmam Abdullahi into an uncompleted building at Fakon-Idi area in Sokoto where he forcefully had sexual intercourse with him, thereby contravening Section 284 of the Penal Code.

The Chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, after listening to the prosecutor  said that the court lacked jurisdiction over the matter and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison until the next adjourned date.

 

He thereafter fixed Oct. 15 as the new date for mention and transfer of the case to a court of competent jurisdiction.
 

The accused who is facing a one-count charge of unnatural offence pleaded not guilty.
