Prof. Mustapha Akanbi, the Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASUZ), has described the late  Prof. Modupe Kolawole as a community builder who will be remembered for her service to humanity.

Akambi said in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin on Friday that the death of the university’s pioneer Dean of Post Graduate School came as a rude shock.

“She was a community builder, a marriage counsellor and a great mentor. The university community received the news of her death with a rude shock.

“She was an upright mentor. we commiserate with Prof. Deboye Kolawole, over the sudden death of his wife, and former Head, Department of English Language,” he said.

The vice chancellor said that the vacuum created by her death would be difficult to fill, saying “we however take solace in the fact that as devout Christian, she is reposing in the bosom of the Lord”.

“She will be greatly missed, we beseech God to grant the family and the university community the fortitude to bear this loss,” he said.

The deceased was a reputable scholar and researcher in Literature, Culture and Gender Studies, with a scholarly process that transcends Nigeria and Africa. (NAN)
