The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has called on the international community to intervene in Nigeria’s affair with the aim of stopping the killings in the country.
Secondus made the call on Monday when he was receiving one of the presidential aspirants of the party, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
The request, according to a statement by Secondus’ media aide, Ike Abonyi, became necessary following alleged poor reaction of the government to the need to stem the tide of the spate of killings.
The chairman of the leading opposition party also said it had information that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was planning to rig the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, a development which he said might cause serious crisis in the country.
“Thwart the will of Ekiti people and put unquenchable fire in the country.
“Let me warn the INEC Chairman, Prof. Yakubu and Amina Zakari, the national commissioner in charge of operations in the electoral commission to be careful with any agenda they have that is against the will of the people of Ekiti,” he said.
Secondus told the presidential aspirant, Turaki, that the PDP as a platform was rebranded, repositioned and ready to regain power and rescue Nigeria from the “terrible governance of the APC.”
Secondus noted that because the APC administration had nothing to offer, they resorted to brute force, intimidation and harassment of opponents.

“They are harassing, arresting and framing up people but they cannot arrest and kill everybody. We are ready for them.
“Whether they like it or not, PDP will win Ekiti come July 14 because we are on ground and have something to show; we will also go ahead to win Osun State in September and the general elections in 2019.”
Speaking earlier during the visit, the presidential aspirant who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Minister of Special Duties commended Secondus for fulfilling his campaign promises of leading the party transparently.
Turaki said that Secondus, by the way he conducted Ekiti primaries, had shown that he and his team were fantastic marketers for the party.
He also disclosed that he had visited all other presidential aspirants in the race and promised to support whoever emerges at the end of the day.
Turaki was accompanied by top members of his campaign team led by former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna.
