In continuation of efforts to tighten security in Plateau State following the killing of no fewer than 86 persons by suspected herdsmen, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Undie Adie, has been removed.
A new officer, Bala Ciroma, has replaced him.
Ciroma was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, at the Force headquarters in Abuja.

According to the spokesman of the command, Terna Tyopev, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had ordered Adie to return to the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.
It would be recalled that Idris had deployed a special team to Plateau State.
The special team is made up of Intelligence Response Team, IRT; Special Tactical Squad, STS; three Police Mobile Force units and five Armored Personnel Carriers, APCs.
Also two helicopters are already in the state for aerial surveillance.
