Commissioner for Information and Communication, Plateau State, Mr. Yakubu Dati, says the State Executive Council has approved a supplementary budget of N15.2bn.
He told journalist in Jos that the approval was one of the decisions reached at the council’s meeting presided over by Gov. Simon Lalong on Friday.
Also addressing journalists, Mr David Wuyep, Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, said two bills for the water and energy sectors were also approved by the council.
He explained that one of the bills was seeking a law to make the Plateau Water Board a commercial entity and also to give it some level of autonomy.
The second bill, Wuyep disclosed, was for the creation of an energy corporation to clear the way for the involvement of private hands to develop the huge energy resources in Plateau.

He said both bills would be sent to the House of Assembly soon.
Mr. Sylvester Wallangko, Commissioner for Economic Planning who gave the breakdown of the budget, said that N6.3 billion was for recurrent expenditure, while N8.9 billion was for capital expenditure.
He explained that the monies would be pumped into ongoing projects before the end of the year adding the approval will be transmitted to the State House of Assembly for passage into law.
Wallangko explained further that the supplementary budget was necessary for the government to complete ongoing projects, saying the goal was to ensure that no project was abandoned due to lack of funds.
