The campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu has been thrown into mourning following the death of two police escorts on Tuesday in an auto crash that occurred at Oluku near Benin.
It was gathered that the accident was caused by a trailer which ran into the campaign entourage claiming the lives of the two police officers.
Following the road crash, the APC candidate called off his rally at Usen in Ovia South West local government, where they were headed before the accident.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chairman of the APC Media Campaign Council, Mr. John Mayaki, which said the suspension of the campaign was to honour the dead.
Mayaki extended the condolences of Mr. Ize-Iyamu and the APC to the families of the deceased, saying they were not alone in their grief.
