Some Muslim women of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) on Monday called for peace against the subsisting violence in parts of the country.
The women, who called for women inclusion in polices toward solution to the crisis, made the appeal at the end of the group’s 22nd Annual Women Week, held at NASFAT Centre, Aseese, Ogun.
The week-long event brought to the fore challenges militating against women development, empowerment and societal harmony with a view to finding remedies.
Speaking at the event, NASFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Nofisat Arogundade, said that women were more affected by violence in the society.
According to her, violence made many women widows, lost means of livelihood for not being able to access farmlands, vulnerable to rape, hunger, diseases and even domestic violence.
“As the worse hit, women are suppose to involve in policy framework aimed at checking the crisis as they will be thoughtful and aggressive in carrying out assignments toward solutions to violence in the country,” the women leader said.
She charged the women to always ensure that children were brought up with the right values, saying such would help in securing a good society.
She admonished the women to be self reliant to enable them participate in politics where matters concerning them were been decided.
She appealed to governments at all level to always include women in crisis management for better resolution, as women are good managers.
Speaking at the event, the guest lecturer, Dr. Faliat Jimoh, said that women should constantly establish dialogue with their children, especially the teens, to resolve latent crisis that could make child worse off if not better handled.
Jimoh, a forensic technology expert, whose lecture dwelled on parents role in deviant control in youths, asked parents to censor the films and movies the children were exposed to.
She said that the introduction of foreign cultures alien to our tradition and norms to the youths through the Internet contributed to social infractions in the society.

She decried the-get-rich syndrome among the youths, adding that such has led to many not being inclined to education as they see their peers in the Yahoo money making live in affluence.
She charged parents to ensure the right family values were inculcated in the youths to help them refrain from undeserved life style that could cause them trouble in future.
She advised parents to emphasie the dignity of labour to discourage sharp practises in child character moulding.
She frowned at students’ involvement in examination malpractices and tasked both parents and teachers to rescue the society from further decay by removing the stigma associated with failing an examination.
In his remark, Chairman of the event, Alhaji Ibrahim Jimoh, said that women empowerment was necessary in checking some of the social deformities that tended to subjugate the women folk and by extension the entire society.
The chairman commended the women for their foresight in executing programmes that could aid women and the girl-child overcome challenges and promised to support the NASFAT women projects.
