The circular added that he was placed on a one-year suspension from the Club for physically assaulting and abusing a fellow member, conduct injurious to the interest of the Club, thereby violating Rule 9(C) of the Club’s Rule Book.

“This suspension takes effect from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022,” the circular bearing Mr Alakija’s picture read.

When contacted on the telephone, the Duty Manager of the club, who refused to disclose his name, stated that the suspension wasn’t made public because Ikoyi Club is a private club.

However, a check on Linkedin revealed the identity of the duty manager as Habeeb Azeez.
