Sen. Hope Uzodinma, who was on Tuesday declared winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Imo State by the Supreme Court, said he has recovered his stolen mandate.
A seven member panel of the apex court in a unanimous judgement, annulled the election of Emeka Ihedioha and ordered the Independent
National Electoral Commission to issue fresh Certificate of Return to Uzodinma.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Declan Emelumba, shortly after he was declared winner of the election, Uzodinma noted that the
court had demonstrated bravery.
The statement said in part: “The Supreme Court has declared Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the duly elected governor of Imo State. The beautiful
thing is that our stolen mandate has been recovered.
“The governor will arrive in Imo State on Wednesday and he will address the people of the state. He has better plans for the people of
the state. He is experienced and the state is in for good things.”
