Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Ogun State governor, on Thursday said his loyalists who recently joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) were frustrated out of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor who was fielding questions from journalists during the flag off of his Senatorial campaign in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, however, expressed optimism that the APC would win the elections in the state directly or indirectly.

The governor, who kick-started the campaign from the palace of the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, stated that those who defected to the APM were also members of APC, but were wronged by the party’s leadership, hence their defection.

Amosun, who described the APM as a child of necessity, said it would have been a great error not to allow the loyalists to realise their aspirations through another party.

He described the movement as a good omen for President Muhammadu Buhari and himself who had been adopted as APM’s presidential and Ogun Central Senatorial candidates respectively.
