Mrs. Tinubu, represented by wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, said the initiative, which is in partnership with HUAWEI, corroborates the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5) that seeks to achieve gender equality, full participation of women and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making.

She said: “The Huawei Women in Tech Digital Training programme is more than just a series of workshops; it is a symbol of the government’s commitment in bridging the gender divide in the digital world.

“Technology enhances efficiency, facilitates innovation, and improves quality of life, in addition to its potency in driving economic growth and providing solutions to global challenges, in the environment, healthcare, governance, among other sectors.

“The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), conceived by the present administration at the federal level, is poised to positively impact the lives of Nigerians by bringing individuals out of poverty, educating them, and guiding them towards better lives for their families.”

While congratulating all beneficiaries, Mrs. Tinubu urged them to reaffirm their commitment towards creating a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and use technology as a catalyst for positive change.

Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady, Mrs. Adeola Bali, noted that the RHI championed by Mrs. Tinubu covers different areas such as agriculture, economic empowerment, social investment, health and education, with provision of meaningful interventions to families across the country.

Deputy Director of Huawei, Mrs. Nihinlola Fafore, who represented the Managing Director, explained that the Tech Training for women will run across all geo-political zones, even as the first phase covers all states in the Southwest.

She emphasised that at the end of the training, participants will have in-depth knowledge and insight on technology which will ultimately support their businesses, drive visibility and improve their income.
