The Asokoro, Abuja, residence of Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, caught fire on Sunday.

However, the fire was put out before it could cause much damage.

The fire was said to have started in the bedroom of the minister following a suspected electrical fault to the air conditioners.

The minister was said not to be at home, but those around put it out  before much damage could be caused, it was gathered.

Kachikwu has been in the news of late over the letter he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari, but which was leaked to the press.

In the letter, he accused the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Bello, of insubordination.

He also alleged that due process was not observed in the transactions of the corporation.
