#EndSARS: Judicial Panel Begins Sitting In Lagos, Monday

The Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution recently inaugurated by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will begin sitting on Monaday.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on Friday while addressing journalists after going round the state to ascertain the level of carnage caused by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protests in the state.

According to the governor, the panel which has retired Justice Doris Okuwobi as chairman, will sit at the Lagos Court of Arbitration located at Lekki.

The governor also disclosed that the terms of reference for the panel has been expanded “to include the incident at the Lekki Toll Gate.”

The Next Edition had reported that soldiers had on Tuesday, October 20, shot at unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate resulting to the deaths of many while several others sustained various gunshot wounds.

The panel, which has six months to complete its job, also has Mr. Ebun Adegboruwa, SAN representing the Civil Society; a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police; Taiwo Lakanu; Ms. Patience Udoh, representing the Civil Society; Mr. Segun Awosanya, Human Rights Activist and Mrs. Olutoyin Odusanya, Director, Citizens Mediation Center as members.

Also, as part of efforts to mend fences, the Lagos state government has asked business owners whose stores were looted or vandalised by hoodlums in the last few days of violence to reach out to it.

Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat disclosed this via a tweet on his personal Twitter handle on Friday.

He wrote: “If you are a Lagos based business and your store got looted/vandalized this week, please fill this form by @LSETF

“Lets do what we can to support you.”
