The Katsina government has sealed off the palace of Umar Farouk, emir of Daura due to high number of COVID-19 cases.
Daura is the home town of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reports said six persons died of the Coronavirus disease in the Palace last weekend while an unspecified number of persons are currently under quarantine and at various isolation centres in the state.
Daily Trust quoted the secretary to the state government, Mustapha Inuwa, as saying the closure was normal routine in places where a positive case of COVID-19 has been recorded.

Recall that Gov. Bello Masari of Katsina had in April ordered a lockdown in Daura local government area of the state over three fresh cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, The SUN, which reported the death of six persons at the Emir’s Palace, quoted Gov. Masari as saying: “We got some positive cases of the coronavirus disease at the palace so we decided to take control.
“So far, we have taken samples of 89 persons from the palace. You know that the palace is like a government house with a large concentration of people.”
The emir has also suspended the wedding of his daughter over the outbreak of the virus.
