EFCC Arraigns Uniport Student For ‘Internet Fraud’

A 500-Level student of the University of Port Harcourt, Sunday Deele Noble, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for alleged internet fraud.

The 25-year-old student was arraigned before Justice Emmanuel A. Obile by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence.

He pleaded not guilty when the four-count charge was read to him, but was remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.

After taking his plea, the EFCC counsel, E.G Omeje asked the court to fix a date for commencement of trial.

But the defense lawyer, F. E Enigwe orally moved an application for the accused to be granted bail.

This was opposed by the prosecution.

Justice Obile, subsequently ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre pending determination of bail application and adjourned till April 6, 2020.
