Easter conveys powerful meanings and lessons to people who understand it. What does Easter mean to you?
Christians all over the world are celebrating the death and resurrection of Christ. For members of the Catholic Church, the season begins with a 40-day lenten season where they reflect on what Christ did on the cross for everyone.
Some people celebrate Easter without really knowing what the period is all about. For this set of people, it’s holidays declared to allow people to just stay at home and relax with their families, while others mark it with deep meanings because they really believe in the events leading to Easter.
The Next Edition asked a cross section of people what Easter really means to them and their responses are presented below:

Growing up as a son it meant I got an awesome meal. As a student, it meant a really short vacation (two weeks and we were back to school). As a grown up man, it means a day to clean and time for personal development. As an employee, it means working just four days a week for two weeks. As a start up, it means working four days a week for two weeks. As a Christian, it means Jesus died for my sins and I’m doing a terrible job with the grace he has granted me .

“Easter is like the main basis on which my Christian faith is built. It is that of the greatest love story that has and will ever be. It just tells of how God loved me and valued me and the world that he took on all my sins and gave me salvation and a chance to live forevermore. Because of Easter, I no longer have to carry the weight of sin, I can be called blameless and righteous.”
Jane Edu, Customer Rep
“I’m catholic ,so Easter basically is the Lenten season ,where one is expected to walk side by side with Jesus through his travails until the cross. Easter is a period of sober reflection, a time to let go of all the burden and just let Jesus in. Most importantly, it’s a period for fasting, prayers, almsgiving, showing love to less privileged, old people etc. Easter is also time for forgiveness and finding peace, so when Christ rises we too shall rise with him in glory.”
Ekom Essien, Entrepreneur
“Easter means the period, satan was defeated openly. Jesus overcame the devil and restored man to his original position of sonship and we are now seated with God at His right hand. We can now approach God with boldness, because we are in Christ. Christ overcame death and the power of hell.”

“As a Christian, Easter is the crux of my faith because without a time like this, there would be no Christianity. So Easter for me, means redemption from sin, it means reconciliation of Man to God.
Unlike popular opinion, Easter for me, is not a time to mourn, it’s a time to celebrate Salvation and the Liberty, which is in Christ.”
