The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom state, Nsima Ekere, has promised to bring development to Ini and Ikono Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking while on a campaign visit to the two communities on Saturday, he told the people that a vote for the APC meant greater development and prosperity for them.

Ekere noted that both communities were among the eight local government areas in the state designated special development areas due to the level of infrastructural deficit evident in the areas.

To the people of Ini, he said, “Ini, your time has come. I will open up Ini Local Government. My plan for you is too much. I will bring prosperity to Ini and banish poverty in the state.”

The governorship candidate assured the people that all road contracts which he awarded as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, would be completed while more would be done when he becomes the governor.

At Ikono, he made the same promises assuring them that he had taken note of their challenges and would address them when he assumes office. “Ikono needs development. I have taken note of that and it will be taken care of. Vote APC, the problems of Ikono will be addressed,” said.

Ekere called on the people to vote APC from top to bottom, laying emphasise on the need for the people to support the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari whom he said had more for Akwa Ibom than any other government at the centre.

Addressing the crowds at both communities, Senator Godswill, Akpabio, representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, also seeking re-election, thanked the people for their support.

Noting that he had not come to campaign because the people already knew his capabilities, he said he had come to tell them that the platform had changed.

According to him, APC was the party to support in the state and at the centre.

Akpabio explained that he moved to APC for two reasons; President Buhari’s transformational agenda and to link the people of Akwa Ibom to the centre so they can benefit.

He appreciated President Buhari for empowering the people of the state and assured them that they will benefit more in the President’s second term.

At Ini, over 15, 000 decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party were received into while about 600 joined the Party at Ikono.
