The Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, has stated that his state has moved away from the system whereby state resources are shared among a few people.
He said under his government, resources of the state were used to improve the lives of the people through empowerment, infrastructure development and other meaningful projects.
The governor who spoke on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day said it was a time to reflect “on our journey towards nationhood thus far.”
According to him, his administration had laid a foundation for the building of a state which everybody would be proud of.

His words: “We have retired the politics of sharing state funds, as our collective wealth is now employed for what it was meant for – building infrastructure, ensuring health and securing the future of our children through education.
“Never again will state funds go to private pockets. We are on the move.
“Democracy is for the collective, and as such my administration has in the last few years made agriculture a priority.
“Our factories are now working, so our youths can be employed.”
The governor said the state now produced enough fertiliser to match local demand thereby ensuring food security.
He said his government was steadily revamping the schools quantitatively and qualitatively.
According to him, all roads leading into the capital were being expanded amongst others while the tourism sector had become revenue generating.
“There is still much more to be done. More schools to build and more children to enroll. More roads to build and maintain. More jobs to create.
“I am confident that if we continue to create the enabling environment, small businesses will thrive and there will be net economic gains for all.
“Today is not a day to discuss politics, but to reflect on the journey so far and the years ahead. Today is a day for you, my country men and women, the ones who have championed democracy. It is my duty to ensure it works, for you and the future.
“I promise to play my part, regardless of how politically naïve it may be, until every single family feels the dividends of democracy,” he said.
