Miss Khadija Grema, one of the just freed students of Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, on Wednesday narrated their experiences in the captivity of Boko Haram, stating how five of them died.
She said the five girls died of heart attack caused by the stress they went through in the captivity of the terrorists.
Grema also spoke on how they were picked from their school on February 19, 2018.
Said she: “That fateful day, we were ready for dinner, when we heard shootings then one of our teachers was calling and directing us to go out through the gate.
“We ran into the insurgents at the gate; they gathered all of us in the name of rescue when suddenly they asked one Babangida, the driver, to bring the truck which they packed us in.
“As we continue to move into the bush they ask for those who were fasting among us. They then served us drinks, meat and food after which we said our prayers and continued the journey.
“We crossed several rivers and streams and packed into one house where we lived. Honest we were not ill-treated. They didn’t torture us as they treated us well throughout our stay in captivity…
“Five of our colleagues died of heart attack, trauma and stress as a result of the long trip. They didn’t allow us get close to them neither did they subject us to any molestation; or any kind of sexual harassment.’’
The girl explained that the terrorists spoke Kanuri and Arab.
Grema also disclosed that one of them who is a Christian and refused to denounce her faith was held back by the terrorists.
“She is a Christian and she refused to denounce her religion,” she said.
The Nigerian Army has handed over the girls to the Presidency.
The handing over was carried out on Wednesday at the 105 Air Force Composite Command, Maiduguri, Borno State.
They were handed over to the delegation of the Presidency composed of the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau and Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Khadija Bukar-Abba.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, also witnessed the occasion.
The Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, who presented the girls to Alhaji Lai Mohammed said 104 of the girls handed over were those released on Wednesday while the remaining six were yet to be accounted for.
The two others handed over along with the girls, it was disclosed, were rescued by the troops from the terrorists.
The girls were taken to Maiduguri from Yobe along with their parents and guardians.
The girls were released on Wednesday in Dapchi, Yobe State, by the terrorists after negotiation by the federal government.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said no money was paid to the terrorists group before the release of the girls.
The girls, it was gathered, were taken to Abuja where they will go through medical attention among other things.
