Nigeria on Friday recorded 221 new cases of Coronavirus, raising the number of infections across the country to 56,956, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said.
The health agency also reported one death from the virus bringing the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 1,094.
In an update on its official Twitter handle, NCDC said the new cases were reported from 17 states and the FCT with Lagos accounting for the highest number of cases, 59, followed by Abia with 46 and FCT with 22.

Others are – Gombe (20), Plateau (17), Rivers (11), Bauchi (7), Benue (6), Ekiti (6), Imo (6), Kaduna (4), Kwara (4), Ondo (4), Ogun (3), Osun (3), Bayelsa (1), Edo (1) and Kano (1)
The NCDC also disclosed that a total of 48,305 persons have recovered from the disease and been discharged, adding, “Our discharges today include 100 community recoveries managed in Oyo State in line with new case management guidelines.”
