The Federal Government has ordered the closure of all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps in the country with immediate effect.
Corps members who are currently undergoing the three-week compulsory Orientation Course are to also vacate the camps immediately.
The directive was contained in a statement sent to all the State Coordinators.
A corps member posted to Ondo State, who did not want to be named, told the Next Edition that they were informed of the development late on Tuesday evening.
She however, said they were told to pick up posting letters to their places of primary assignment before leaving the camp today (Wednesday).
Recall that the 2020 Batch ‘A’ National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were recently mobilised for the orientation course which commenced on March 10.
The exercise was to have ended on March 30.
The closure of the camps is part of the federal government’s efforts to limit the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease currently ravaging several countries of the world.
Nigeria only on Tuesday confirmed the third case of the virus in the country.
