Chinese Women in Nigeria Supports Visually Impaired Persons

Chinese Women Association in Nigeria under the auspices of ‘China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action’, at the weekend donated items worth N12 million to Bethesda Home for the Blind in Lagos.

Mao Chao, wife of the Consul General in Lagos, who made the donation, said it was one of the six projects of the China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action.

Items donated included power-generating sets, refrigerators, musical instruments, bags, bags of rice, drums, chairs and tables, cooking utensils, rich, tissues, bed-sheets, digital voice recorders, among others,

She said Chinese women were happy to put smiles on the students’ faces as the items would go a long way in bringing them relief.

Mao, while commending Chioma Ohakwe, Director of the Home, for caring for the blind, said the gesture was the international expression of the traditional virtue and humanism of the Chinese people.

Mao said the consulate and the association had been supporting other orphanage and vulnerable persons in different communities in Lagos.

Ohakwe, who appreciated the Chinese women for the donation, added that they had become supportive and dependable partners to Bethesda Home, by helping them fulfill their mission, as the collaboration would ensure that life-altering resources were readily available to those who needed them most.

Abimola, Ademola-Bawaallah, President, International Women’s Society (IWS), Nigeria, urged wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to donate to make a difference in people’s lives and be part of the amazing transformations that happen everyday.
