The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd.), said on Tuesday that the recent rescue operation by the United States special forces on Nigerian soil did not violate the country’s sovereignty.
He said the Nigerian government granted the US necessary permission to carry out the military operation.
Recall that the United States Special Military Force, at the weekend, rescued an American citizen being held by terrorists in the northern part of Nigeria.

During the operation, some of the terrorists were killed.
Answering questions from journalists shortly after defending his Ministry’s budget at the Senate on Tuesday, the minister disclosed that the rescue mission was undertaken by the US with permission from the Nigerian government.
He described the US “as a friendly country,” countering theories that the United States might have violated Nigeria’s sovereignty.
