It was another disappointing outing for Chelsea fans as they witnessed the humiliation of their darling team in a cracker between Southampton, which ended in a 0-2 home loss.

Chelsea came into the game in buoyant mood following their excellent win over Spurs, but they looked sluggish from the start and struggled to create meaningful chances. Their only effort on target in the first half was the tame header Fikayo Tomori to Alex McCarthy which was not converted.

Southampton’s academy product Obafemi, started ahead of Danny Ings, gave the Saints the lead when he curled home a stunning left-footed effort from the edge of the box in the 31st minute after Chelsea lost possession in midfield.

The 19-year-old scored his first Premier League goal the saints as things went from bad to worse for Chelsea when Redmond finished off another slick Southampton attack in the second half.

Frank Lampard’s men dominated possession but showed none of the cutting edge that helped them beat Tottenham last time out, allowing Southampton to claim a deserved win which lifts them up to 14th in the Premier League table.

A string of promising attacks broke down due to poor crosses and lack of composure among the front line, with the home fans showing their frustration from the stands. Southampton defended superbly, with Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens marshalling Tammy Abraham closely.
