Valentine Day is here and as always, there may be pressure to impress your partner. But not to worry, we understand that times and finances are a bit harsh.
Impressing a loved one or having fun, does not really have to be expensive. You just need to put on your thinking cap and come up with ingenious ideas.
There are a lot of cheaper options for dates if you can’t afford to go all out to take your partner out. Some of those ideas will involve you not even leaving your house! Here are a few ideas of what you can do to make your Valentine Day a memorable but not expensive one.
Dinner At Home
Traditionally, the women do the cooking and serving. As the man, for this Valentine day, you can switch. Make a production of cooking a romantic dinner for your woman. All you need is to make it extra special by bringing out the fine China, making a meal that you can plate up nicely. You can buy some scented candles to set the mood. Buy some wine and get ice as well. Get ice cream or cake to serve as desert after your main meal. The plus side to this is you don’t have to pay for an overpriced meal at a restaurant and you have the leftovers to enjoy another day. Be sure you have some good music playing in the background and you’re set.
If you are not so versed in cooking, make the simplest meal you can. The fun is in the effort you make.
Netflix Dinner
Pick a movie or movies that you will both enjoy and stay in, get comfortable and watch. You may still need to order in some food or pizza depending on what you both want. The aim of the night is to be as comfortable as possible in a relaxed environment.
Go to an Art Exhibit
This is not your typical date night activity so doing it on Valentine Day will make it special. Most exhibits will charge a small stipend to admit visitors so do your research before you go.

Stay in Bed
This will need to be agreed upon before the day. Have a lazy evening together, eat in bed. However for this to be an option, you both have to see it as something enjoyable.
Have a picnic
All you need is a basket and some snacks, fruits and a cooler for drinks. Pick a cool spot and you’re good to go. This is not also a regular date night activity so if you do this right it’s bound to be memorable. Go with some games as well if both of you like games. This may be an option for those run their own businesses and can afford to take the time off.
At Home Spa
Treat yourselves to a massage and some grooming right in the comfort of your house. All you need is any oil that can be used as a massage oil and some Do-It-Yourself face masks, scented candles and you’re set. Just take turns to give each other massages while you play some soothing music. Take your time to give massage each other and don’t be in a hurry. If you want to make the experience even better, look up a few techniques that you can use before time.
These are a few ideas of how you can spend the day together while spending less. They will also bring you closer as a couple as they are more intimate than having dinner at a crowded restaurant.
