CAN Re-elects Rev. Ayokunle as President

Rev. Supo Ayokunle,  President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, has been re-elected President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Announcing the results at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday,  Bishop Matthew Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, said Ayokunle scored 59 votes to defeat the runner up, Rev. Caleb Solomon-Ahima, President, Fellowship of Christian Churches in Nigeria, who polled 44 votes.

According to CAN’s constitution, Ahima, automatically becomes the Vice President of the organisation.

Ahima is the President, Fellowship of Christian Churches in Nigeria (TEKAN).

The newly elected executive will serve for a period of three years.

CAN, is the umbrella association for the different Christian denominations in the country.
