The meeting between the governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday ended without any agreement reached.
The meeting, it was gathered, lasted about one hour with the tenure elongation of the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led executive being the issue for discussion.
The governors emerged from the meeting keeping mum.
None of them spoke with State House Correspondents over the outcome of their deliberations.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State told the reporters that it was agreed that the governors should not speak to the press over the issue.
It was however gathered that the governors were sharply divided over the tenure elongation issue and did not hide their feelings at the meeting.

As no agreement was reached, it was adjourned to a later date.
It would be recalled the President Muhammadu Buhari, penultimate Tuesday called for the reversal of the tenure elongation of the national and state executive officers of the APC.
During its National Executive Committee meeting held on February 27, 2018, the tenure of the executives was extended by a year.
The development was opposed by some members of the party, including its national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Also, some aggrieved members went to court to challenge the constitutionality of the tenure elongation.
However, speaking at the NEC meeting in Abuja penultimate Tuesday, Buhari said he had critically examined the issue and was convinced that the tenure elongation was unconstitutional.
He said the appropriate thing to do was to elect new officers at the expiration of the tenure of the present crop of leaders as stipulated in the constitution of the party.
He also warned that if the right steps were not taken on issues concerning the party, its electoral fortune might be jeopardised.
