Eyewitnesses told The Next Edition that the corps member whose identity was not known as at the time of the incident had her ear-piece on and appeared to be unconscious of the approaching train.

It was disclosed that even when someone tried to drag her back she resisted and moved on till she was crushed.

When our correspondent got to the scene, she was still lying down by the rail line with her legs crushed.

Her fingers were also affected.

Writhing in pain, she, almost inaudibly, begged those around to help her.

A policeman and a few other persons who had gathered around here were seen making calls, obviously to the appropriate authorities for the needed assistance.

He was suspected to be listening to music with his ear-piece blocking his ears as he walked on the rail between Ile-Zik and the railway crossing at Ikeja when he was crushed.

Eyewitnesses told The Next Edition correspondent that he appeared not to have heard the blaring horn of the train as it approached.

Efforts to get him off the rail by those who shouted to call his attention to the oncoming train were unsuccessful.

The train was coming from the Agege end of the rail line towards Ikeja.

He was said to be living in Sango area of Ogun State.
