BREAKING: Obong University gets NUC approval for new programmes

The National Universities Commission, NUC, has approved the commencement of five new academic programmes to be run at Obong University, Obong Ntak, Etim Ekpo local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

The five new programmes which will be run at the university campus at the Bachelor’s Degree level include: Mass Communication, Business Administration, English and Literary Studies, Marketing and Christian Religious Studies.

According to a letter signed by the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Dr G. B. Kumo, the commission stated that the approval for Obong University to offer the new programmes was taken after the management considered and was satisfied with the report by the panel of experts who undertook a resource accreditation visit to Obong University.

Reacting to the news, the Vice Chancellor of Obong University, Professor Udoudo Ekanemesang, said he was thankful to God that the hard work put in by management and staff of the university had yielded a positive result.

Ekanemesang commended the NUC for what he described as a thorough and painstaking process and for recognising the excellent programmes ongoing at Obong University and the opportunity to grow and build on the existing programmes in her journey to becoming a reference institution for teaching, learning, innovation and research.

He also thanked the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Obong University, Prof. Moses Akpanudo, for his continuous support to the university, especially in the provision of infrastructure.

His words: “Management of Obong University is also appreciative of the significant support it received from the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Enefiok Essien and other academic staff at UNIUYO, academic staff of the Akwa Ibom State University, especially Prof. Iwoetok.

“I also thank management and staff of Obong University for their hard work and continuous commitment to the Obong University project.”

The vice chancellor disclosed that facilities were in place to receive the influx of students to Obong University when the institution opened its doors to admit students into the new programmes in October.

He therefore urged parents and guardians all over Nigeria desirous of giving high quality tertiary education in a serene environment at an affordable cost to consider sending their wards to Obong University located at Obong Ntak in Etim Ekpo Local Government area of Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile, students who did not list Obong University as the their first choice university for any of the listed courses have been advised, might do so online by visiting the university website at www.obonguniversity.net.

The may also pick up the application forms at Obong University campus, Obong Ntak, Etim Ekpo L.G.A, Akwa Ibom State.
