Real Madrid has defeated Atletico twice in the Champions League final. But today it was Atletico’s day.

Diego Costa scored the first goal for Atletico in the first half just 49 seconds into the game.  Karim Benzema  equalized in the 27th minute for the white half of Madrid making it 1-1.  Sergio Ramos made it 2-1 in favour of Real Madrid when he scored a penalty in the second half.

The game looked like it would go Real Madrid’s way until Costa scored the second goal making it 2-2. The game got to extra time and Saul Niguez scored a volley to make it 3-2 in favour of Atletico.  Koke then made it 4-2 to seal the victory.

This was the first Madrid derby since April 2013 that Real played without Cristiano Ronaldo. With this loss. Real will surely intensify their pursuit for Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, if they are to get to compete strongly for the Champions league and Spanish La liga this season.
