The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo the winner of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced the result at INEC’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday.
Soludo, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a total of 422,664 votes to clinch victory. His closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 99,445 votes to place second.
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Paul Chukwuma, polled 37,753 votes, while the Labour Party’s George Moghalu scored 10,576 votes. John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), backed by a coalition group, obtained 8,208 votes.
With this result, INEC officially declared Soludo re-elected as Governor of Anambra State.
