Boy Whose Girlfriend Set Ablaze Dies In Makurdi Hospital – Police

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the death of a boy, Chidimma Omah, whose girlfriend set ablaze in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Monday.

Omah died from the burns he sustained from the attack.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, who spoke to journalists at the command Headquarters in Makurdi, said he (Omah) died around 10p.m on Monday at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Makurdi, where he was receiving treatment.

The Next Edition reported that the 28-year-old Omah, was set ablaze by his 18 year old girlfriend, Esther Alex, at about 2a.m on Monday at his Wadata resident, following a misunderstanding.

Meanwhile neighbours were alleging that Esther Alex must have drugged Chidimma before soaking his one room apartment with fuel and struck the match while he was asleep.

At the time of this report, the suspect had been transferred to the state Police Headquarters for further questioning.
